I recently wrote about how the pet industry is now a $50 billion dollar a year business. The good news is that there doesn’t seem to be a slow down any time soon. The great news is that you can start taking a chunk out of this spending in this industry and keep some of it for yourself.
Before we start jumping into how you can make money in the pet industry, let’s first cover a few facts about why the pet industry is so amazing, and how it affects so many people. The American Pet Products Association reports the following:
- According to the 2011-2012 APPA National Pet Owners Survey, 62% of U.S. households own a pet, which equates to 72.9 millions homes
- In 1988, the first year the survey was conducted, 56% of U.S. households owned a pet as compared to 62% in 2008
What’s also important to know, is that in 1994 the spending on pets was in the $17 billion range… 18 years later and we are now seeing over $50 billion a year. The bottom line is, people love their pets and they are going to spend a massive amount of money on keeping them healthy, bringing them to doctors and grooming, buying silly clothing and toys… and most importantly, treating them like they are family and even your own kid! If you already have a pet then you know what I mean… I have plenty of my own as well! 🙂
Now, let’s get on to how you can make money in the pet industry and with your own web site and marketing.
Create Your Own Pet Information Site
One of the best ways to make money in the pet industry is to simply make a pet resource web site. From pet food coupons to reviews on new products and services, everyone is coming online to find the best products and what pets are really enjoying. With a review or comparison web site, you will not only be able to let others know about great products, but through the use of affiliate programs you can also earn a commission on all sales.
