Choosing the Right Focus for Your Blog
One of the biggest problems people face when starting their own blog is that they don’t know what they want to blog on. It may sound silly, an it kind of is… but knowing what you are going to be blogging about makes all of the difference in the world.
There are three different ways to look at a blogging site and the way they are structured. These different focuses are Personal, Branding and Profit.
At the end of the day, most people are usually blogging for one of these reasons and it usually boils down to being a blog about something you are passionate about, or simply want to make money with. No matter which of these paths you take, you must make a long term decision before you even start with your first blog post.
Let’s break down each of these blog topics and help you better understand which is best for you.
The majority of people who get into blogging have originally started because they want to write about their personal feelings or have their voice be heard. Blogging is an excellent platform the average person to be able to write their feelings down and have a way to voice themselves online without having to learn how to create web sites or any new language of coding or software. WordPress makes it extremely easy to start blogging and you can even setup an account for free through Blogger.com or WordPress.com.
Branding Based Blogs
If you are a well known professional or at least think you should be, then blogging for your brand might be the best place to start. Many companies and services have blogs connected to their web sites which help increase awareness about their brands and services online. Through the use of a blog focused on branding, not only will you increase the exposure and awareness of your name, but you can also bring in some revenue through consulting and sales of your own products.
Profit Based Blogs
The majority of people reading this article are probably interesting in blogging for profit. Fortunately when it comes to making money online, blogging is now one of the preferred methods thanks to everything WordPress now offers (premium plugins and design).
Profit based blogs can be monetized in a great number of ways. The easiest way is to setup Google Adsense to select and serve advertising for you. Better forms of monetization include affiliate marketing and selling your own products and services.
No matter what concept you choose for your blog, the process to creating a successful and authority blog is always the same. You need to focus your efforts on quality content, stay focused on your niche submit and build a wide selection of incoming links and make sure you and your site can be found in the major social networks.
