FatCow: Affordable Hosting for Affiliates

Today's Editor's Picks
FatCow is a hosting provider that we recommended on a number of occasions in the past. So today we want to take a look into their offers a little more in-depth. Here’s our FatCow hosting review, their features, plans, services, and prices.
Hosting Features
As a customer of FatCow’s you get to use a functional control panel offering features such as: .htaccess editor, file manager, site enhancer, site counter, visitor statistics, website creators, easy script installs, email management, email auto-responders, catch-all feature for email, newsletter management, domain central, e-commerce support, and much more.
Email Features
The standard plan at FatCow offers you unlimited number of POP mailboxes (accessible through a web-based client). There’s advanced spam filtering, newsletter management, and a free 60-day trial subscription to Constant Contact.
Programming and Database Features
All plans at FatCow support PHP versions 4 and 5, and MySQL. You can also launch your sites using Python, and take advantage of a big script library.
On top of that, there’s built-in support for WordPress, Gallery2, phpBB, GBook, Joomla, and a number of poll, survey, and counter tools.
Disk Space
Disk space is unlimited for normal use. This means that as long as you host a legitimate site you won’t stumble upon any problems.
Bandwidth
Same story here – your monthly transfer is unlimited for normal use.
Plan and Price
The basic plan at FatCow is only $3.15 per month. For that price you get all of the features mentioned above, plus some additional bonuses, including: $100 AdWords credit, $25 Yahoo and Bing credit, $50 Facebook ads credit, and a free business listing at yp.com.
There are also reseller packages available, starting at $19.95 per month, and a simple domain parking plan for only $5 per year.
Available In
FatCow offers their services to customers located in: the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, and Europe.
The Good
What’s great about FatCow is their affordable pricing and the no-limit approach to bandwidth and disk space. Not mentioning all the bonus ad network credits you get when signing up.
The fact that you can just park a domain for as little as $5 a year is worth noticing here as well.
The Bad
There’s no apparent offer for more advanced online businesses. No dedicated servers or cloud hosting. If you’re a little further along the way with your business then you’re probably better off choosing a different company.
The Bottom Line
If you’re looking for a company to host your new affiliate sites, and you’re doing business in more than one market then FatCow can be a quality solution for you. You can get started very quickly, and there’s a dedicated 24/7 support via phone.
However, for more advanced affiliates, shared hosting probably isn’t the best possible choice.
