Five Insights to a Lifestyle-Changing Affiliate Income [Part 1/5]
Today's Editor's Picks
The goal with affiliate marketing, at least for many of us, is to create a passive income with our efforts to either mitigate the bills while working a normal 9-to-5 or to push over the edge so we no longer need to work the average job.
The idea of a “lifestyle-changing income” isn’t all that farfetched.
An additional $1,000 a month, when you really break it down, can be quite a major leg-up considering it could handle a car payment, bolster an emergency fund, allow us to travel, invest in new opportunities, save for education, and so much more.
It really does become life changing in this regard.
This week I’d like to share one insight, each day, to get you to that lifestyle-changing level when pursuing those affiliate/online efforts.
The $$$ signs may not be massive but they’ll change the game…
Get to know the basics
When I talk about the basics I’m talking about web development.
- User experience
- Front/Backend design
- Graphic design
All those elements of an online business even if they may not pertain to your specific niche or direction.
Knowing is half the battle and if you understand how websites (and all those strategies you plan to implement) operate on a fundamental level you will have a better understanding on the areas to which you can improve.
You don’t need to master these areas of the Web – only that you attempt to understand them.
Even with a broad understand of web development in relation to affiliate marketing you will be able to:
- Understand and negotiate with employees/clients on a deeper level
- Avoid emotional investments in favor of logical decisions to improve the business
- Keep up-to-date to change with the times and avoid stagnation
What I would recommend is to take a few online courses related to web development so that you can understand how it all has changed over the many years. By studying how the Web works you will be able to focus on applying best practices that will stick versus strategies that are a flash in the pan.
It’s really like anything you would attempt to learn… start with the basics and work your way up.
In this case I would say it’s better to start with the basics of web development rather than immediately jumping into affiliate marketing because you’ll be able to understand how to build a website, what works for search engine optimization, getting the most from advertising campaigns, and more.
It’s never too late to start learning the basics; put that into the schedule this week and see how your idea of affiliate marketing shapes as you better understand the fundamentals.
The most important thing to when pursuing affiliate marketing (or any business) is to keep yourself level-headed about it all. It becomes very easy to get caught up with this idea of overnight riches.
If you suddenly gained an additional $1,000 a month wouldn’t you consider that a life changer?
Yes, it may not be these big numbers thrown around by the mega affiliates but for the average individual, like you and me, it allows a shift in lifestyle.
Start on this level and change the game. From there on out there are no limits.
