Infographics: Tips for Affiliate Marketers
When you’re running an affiliate website, you want to get as much traffic as possible. Why? That’s a simple equation we’ve talked about many times at the affiliateprograms.com blog. More traffic equals more sales.
When you get more potential buyers to your site, you have more opportunity to sell your affiliate products.
One of the hot, traffic-generating commodities that can help you generate traffic are infographics. All the rage, infographics are visual representations of information, data or knowledge that can help your site readers understand complex information quickly and easily. In fact, some researchers suggest that the human brain processes images three times faster than text.
Infographics can also generate a burst of traffic to your site. Some sites that have had infographics go viral have seen an increase of 1,000 to 100,000 hits in a matter of a few weeks.
But as an affiliate, you’re probably more focused on your niche than the latest ways to display information. So if you want to know how to create a great infographic, you probably don’t know what to ask for.
It’s not as hard as it seems. Here are four important factors for affiliate marketers to consider when creating an infographic:
1) Use a clean color palette – Don’t let your designer get tripped up by making the color palette of your infographic as complex as the story you’re telling. Use a few simple colors that’s easy on the viewer’s eyes and draws your viewer into the story you’re telling.
2) Don’t sell – Whatever story you’re telling, make sure it’s not about buying a product or service available on your website. Your affiliate business depends on your reputation as an authority in your niche. Use your infographic to outline the issues behind a problem, take your readers through the history of an issue, or define a complex term. The traffic, and sales, will naturally flow when your infographic becomes viral.
3) Make the story match your website – If your website is about dog training, create an infographic about dog training. Better yet, make sure your infographic drills down to a topic of heated debate in your niche, such as the advantages or disadvantages of using clicker training to train German Shepherds.
4) Don’t use too much text – Remember, you’re not writing SEO copy for the search engines! Use as few words as possible and make sure you’re letting images tell the story.
