Web Design Conversion Tips Revealed


designThe concept of “converting” visitors to leads (or even buyers) is very important for every website. More than that, for affiliate sites it’s the definition of success or failure.

The main idea is quite simple – you just have to find a way to convince the visitor to click your affiliate link. However, it’s much easier said than done.

Ask For a Less

The main problem of bad webpages is that they ask too many questions. If you make your homepage (or your sales page, or landing page) too complicated, people will simply get confused an leave.

Ask for just a handful of things. If there’s a form that needs to be filled out then get rid of all unnecessary fields.

For example, when it comes to email subscriptions, the bare minimum is the email address itself (in some cases marketers also like to ask for a name).

Cut Down on Text

The process of crafting a good sales page or landing page is not about including as many elements on the page as possible, nor is it about writing my essay – long copy just for the sake of it.

Always use the minimal amount of words required to convey your main message. People simply don’t have the time to be sitting around reading your page all day.

Use a Clear Call to Action

In a sentence: Tell your visitors what you want them to do next!

Don’t try to sugar-coat it. Say it clearly and make it visual. If you don’t make your message clear, in most cases people won’t figure it out on their own.

If you want someone to give you their email address in exchange for a PDF e-book, for example, place this on the submit button: “Click here to get instant access.”

Include Trust Elements

Logos of respected companies work great as trust elements. The idea is that people are more likely to do business with you if you have a nice portfolio.

The only difficulty is that they need to be real. This is something that can’t be developed overnight. But once you have the possibility, it works great.

How good does this look, for example: “as featured on: The New York Times,” right?

Deliver on the Promise

This is probably the most important factor of success. People hate when somebody is trying to play them. That’s why you need to be careful when creating your copy and advertising your landing page.

If you trick someone into visiting your page, they won’t convert anyway, so it’s simply not worth your effort.

Creating a page that converts well is always a work of trial and error, and if you want to be really successful, you need to be split testing constantly. A situation when the initial version of a given page is the best converting is very uncommon.
