Will Your Affiliate Manager Meet Your Needs?

The world of affiliate marketing is like no other. Yes, affiliate marketing is quite different from the average 9-to-5 world that many of our parents and friends are used to. Where else can you make your own hours, be responsible for your own successes and failures, and have access to an affiliate manager every time you want to work with a new company.

But just like having a “regular” job, it’s always best to surround yourself with a winning team, and a great affiliate manager is a perfect example of someone that can help propel you to a whole new level of business and profits.

In this post we are going to cover some of the various things that you should expect from your affiliate manager, in addition to specifics that you should be and shouldn’t be talking to your affiliate manager.

What to Expect from Your Affiliate Manager

When you join an affiliate network, you are usually assigned an affiliate manager to help you with your account and picking the right offers to promote. Some other things to expect from your affiliate manager is to help with any questions you might have, provide you with payout increases and helping you with traffic sources and creatives when necessary.

Not all affiliate managers are the same, so you will come across a wide range of affiliate managers who fall below the minimum requirements, and only a few that exceed expectations and really help affiliates out.

Many affiliate managers are going to earn a commission or bonus based off their affiliates earnings and success, so it is in their best interest to help you succeed as well.

Details to Share and Not Share with Your Affiliate Manager

While we are on the topic of affiliate managers helping you succeed and earning money for themselves in the process, it’s important to realize that your partnership with your affiliate manager is one that needs to be built on trust.

Trust is a huge factor in the world of affiliate marketing and it can take many years for a good and solid partnership to form.

Some affiliate managers may have ulterior motives and if they see you are doing well with an ad campaign, it wouldn’t be the first time in history that they asked how you are promoting the offer and other campaign details, then pass it off to their mega super affiliates that can push a ton of volume.

What I’m saying is, don’t let your secrets out of the bag to anyone, even to your affiliate managers. If they need to know some specifics for quality issues, that is one thing, but the specifics of your ad campaigns is usually private information and most affiliate manager know that.

Different Types of Affiliate Managers

As mentioned earlier, not all affiliate networks are the same, nor are their affiliate managers. In the next post we are going to break down some of the many different types of affiliate managers out there. Some are newbies that don’t offer much value, while others can turn your business around in just a few weeks… the big question is, what type of affiliate manager do you have?
