I have been doing a lot of web page "Eye Tracking" research in order to improve conversions. Some of it is quite fascinating watching how a person views a web page. I had a link to a great youtube video that showed live demonstrations but I seem to have misplaced it.
There is a lot to learn from this type of information. Such as how people scan the page as opposed to reading it. How content presented in "blocks" with a header is much better than large amounts of text. How long menus get little attention. How image banners are quickly dismissed unless the viewer is a male and there is an attractive woman in it. The reverse is true for women. I guess they like to look too
I'll try and find that video next time I get a chance. It really is a must for any site owner and great food for thought.
