Question finding people whi sell the product that have affiliate programs

Hi everyone

have 2 questions question for you about affiliate marketing

1) will google ban / de list my site if i use a .org or .ork.uk apparently these are supposed to be for non - profits,, but i see loads of people using them to make profit

2) ....will explain in an example

e.g.: if I wanted to set up a site that gives people lots of info on a genre of product - e.g.: solar powered calculators (just an example)

so first thing is I need to make sure that there are lots of companies stocking these.... right?
so for the uk market... the usual suspects would be Tesco / John Lewis / gadget shop etc etc... but then I suddenly notice that john Lewis don't stock them, neither do Tesco,, but there are loads of little independents selling them,, but problem is they don't have an affiliate program
so the whole exercise was pointless.
after reading on some affiliate sites, blogs etc I can see that there are some steps that always go something like this

step 1. find a niche to write about
step 2. launch site
step 3 do SEO

surely step 2 should be ... Make sure there are enough people selling it that have affiliate programs

do you agree? or am I missing something? - apologies if it is obvious i am completely new

p.s maybe that's an idea - i.e. a search directory for afiliators (rather than manual search) to make sure that there are enough people selling or providing a service before the affiliatior decides to get into this area?
