Default Banner Blindness

I just read an article about this and think it confirms what I have seen on my site. I have some really great looking banners I got from programs and despite trying to put them tactfully on my site, I can not get them to convert. It is frustrating that because of years of banner abuse, a regular guy can not get a few banner clicks a month.

banners seem like they are more or less used for branding purposes, rather than conversions. if you want to increase your conversions, i've heard that the facebook style adds are pretty successful. otherwise, there are always contextual links

I tend to agree with crazy, banners are not that effective for getting clicks but you can use them to display some bigger brands to make association that you're trusted source.

Text links and reviews / comparisons works well for me/us.

Same more of a branding option. Use the banner within the post or review and it is always an option click the link or banner.

If you set the banners to look like a dialog box with the minimize/shrink/close boxes it is more likely people will accidentally click it. This is a bit overused by some CPA spammers, is really black hat in nature and I would never do it because I think it looks tacky, but its an idea.

I was not meaning the way your thinking if you look here StubHub is the online source for buying and selling concert, sports, and theater tickets. | Ticket Sites Guide that is what i was meaning.

Site is work in progress so don't take much notice of it.

That way they can click the banner or link or links.
