Question Time to go green?

anyone had experienced marketing green products? how are the conversions? it seems like everyone is going green nowadays, so i'm thinking about jumping into the organic swimming pool and giving it a shot.

Ryder, this is a niche vertical our network has been seeing an interest in over the last six months. Since last year when we launched a merchant called 4Offsets in our network, we've seen a slew of affiliates with eco-friendly-relevant sites sign up.

There is still room for growth in this category and because it is so niche, it is not as saturated as say the dating or apparel vertical. If you build it right, they will come.

Thanks maranda. have you seen any specific trends with the people that actually are promoting it? with the economy the way it is, makes me wonder if people can spend on green products since they are typically more expensive.

i've seen green social networks and other sites popping up all over the net, so I imagine that there could be some good products out there to promote. I would be curious though as to which markets would be the most receptive to green products

We actually wrote on this subject via our blog last year. We cited sources from ClickZ and eMarketer.com. We had some server trouble, so much of this ended up getting erased.

I would imagine right now with the economy being a difficult challenge right now that not many people are making saving the environment a priority. But there are those who will always be dedicated to maintaining an eco-friendly lifestyle.

I agree, the economy has probably taken a toll, but now that people are aware, they are doing a little more to help. 10 years ago saying a product was green was worth a lot less than it is now. I bet people are still willing to pay 10-15% more for a green product and that nice feeling that comes along with it.
