I saw a post by Kevin that made me think. Right now the twitter max is 140 characters. Should it be shorter like 50 so that you can only post a sentence or longer like 1000 so that people can put as much as they need.

Short messages are sweet..like " You got Owned" , "I Just Farted" lmao..140 characters are also fine..but I hope it doesn't grow as an article site..

A bit more than 140 characters would be sufficient around 300 i would think would make it that bit better to post on.
Here is a good article on affiliate marketing with Twitter Affiliate Marketing With Twitter More than 140 characters Tweet - Emarketeur’s Blog A nice site here for adding your own coupons http://twtqpon.com/ One i am going to try is this firefox extension. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7898

I am leaning toward 100. Most people put a short title and then a link. I know some people actually post what they are doing, but no one really cares about that except for the people that follow celebrities. I think 100 is enough to get a good title and a shortened link.
