I'm afraid I'll run across something offensive. Has anyone ever?

you have to select sfw (safe for work) or nsfw (not safe for work) when you stumble something. If you have your settings so it only shows you stuff that is safe for work, you should be good.

No risk of running into something offensive on SU. The sites that are delivered to you is based on the areas you specify you are interested in when setting it up
There are other social bookmarking ites that deliver good traffic as well. My top recommendation id Digg
