Not to sound like a big baby, but I have recently become a single mother of a 4 year old and a 4 month old. I was trying to work as an at home agent taking inbound calls but that isn't very workable with a 4 month old who is unpredictable in sleeping patterns. So, here I am trying to make sense of whole this affiliate thing. The information I have come across so far is a little overwhelming. I do not have enough money right now to start a website, however after reading some posts here, I did start a blog. So now the question arises how do I get viewers to that blog? I have come across web sites that say for being an affiliate you can make money the next day, but I don't I know thats not possible if no one is seeing your banners! What do I do next?

Hi Teri,
You are are the right path so far. A blog is a great way to start. Your next step will be to decide what your niche will be in. There are a couple topic on this in the forums and it looks like you found one of the good ones. Next you want to find an affiliate program to sign up for. At the top right of this screen you will see the Directories tab which is a great place to find a good one. From here its up to you. Start posting in that blog. Write articles about all of the things people would ask. Review products, give advice and always include your affiliate link. Its not a quick business. You might not see money right away, but if you stick with it, it will come in. Let me know what your blog is and what types of products you will promote and I'll see how else we can help.

Thank you Greg. I have not chosen a specific niche as far as my affiliate links but I have quite a few of them to place on my blog. I am not even sure if my blog will be considered a niche... is humorous views on current events considered a niche? I think I need a lot of help. I want to enjoy this and employ somethings in my life that i already do. I am a total news junkie as is my friend who will be writing on/managing the blog with me. We originally wanted to start a web show, but ultimately decided to go with a blog to build up some money through affiliate marketing. My blog address is She Said She Said We plan to post our first message today. I already have some affiliate links posted on there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Terianndavis,
Humorous blogs can lead to traffic generation, which is a good thing. I'm new to this also, well I've been doing it for a little over a month now, no money made but I figured out my problem. I was trying to sell a bunch of stuff when your goal is to find one niche, market that, make that work then move on. So your goal is really finding something your interested in, or what you want to sell and then concentrate all your efforts on that. That is what I'm doing and I have to say I'm relieved with promoting one product rather than 12, it is more mentally comforting If you have any questions, feel free to email me at bum_marketer@yahoo.com. I can give you some stuff to help you out, and they are free. Let me know, maybe we can learn from each other. Thanks, pratt2009 |

There are a lot of links on there now and no content so its hard to make a call. Make your first couple of posts and we will check back on it.

Hi terri!
To make your business not so much like work it is advised to concentrate on something that you enjoy. Your articles will be better and you will not hate going to your computer every day. As for what you have now, search Google for the meaning of "Banner Farm". This is one definition; A web page, almost always on a free web host site, that consists of nothing but banners linked to affiliate programs. This is an item that affiliates should avoid. This is a common mistake for many start ups. As mentioned, just concentrate on your site development and your niche. Many quality affiliate programs will not, or should not accept a site that is a banner farm. It is bad for business and represents spam. HCG
