Post Affiliate Tip Of The Week

Larry Markovitz
Advaliant Publisher Manager says:

Think outside the box! Use new social media tools to test traffic and obtain cheaper clicks. Ask your publisher manager if the merchant you want to promote is ok with testing new traffic sources. Sometimes it's worth stepping outside of the norm to try something new.

What types of new social media? I don't know about anyone else, but I've looked into twitter, facebook and digg. I guess it makes sense though, a new media will be cheaper at first until people start using it a lot.

I'll tell you, there is a LOT to do to keep up with all of social networks.
I have accounts on many of them yet little content as it takes time to do. You do not want to spam them so you must contribute something. I have been working out a weekly schedule to deal with everything that should be done on a regular basis. Once I have it flowing well I will train one of my customer service reps to take over the SM schedule. Of course that takes time too

Facebook is growing in the affiliate space. I was at SES: NY earlier in the year, and they had many seminars and panels about the use of social media (especially FB) to drive traffic.

Definitely something to try out. FB was even giving out $50 advertising gift cards.

I agree with you HomeComputerGames... lots of effort to put into these social media outlets. I think there's a lot of trial and error that goes along with it as well. Good luck with your SM efforts and keep us posted

hmm... Well its really hard and time consuming to get strong social networks. I think continuous and determination is much needed in this source of traffic generation.

See ya

Agreed Johnny. I think it depends on the person and how much time they would like to invest in their SM efforts.

It isn't easy to outsource social marketing either. Unlike link building which is fairly basic, effective social marketing involves being social which is a task that is best done by you, not someone at a desk on the other side of the world.

Good point Greg. I don't think I would recommend outsourcing social marketing - sometimes there's too much at stake.

Right!!
People with good inter personal skills get quick friend circle while person with reserve nature is harder to get good social network.
