Default Content is King, or is it?

I think that we've all heard the saying that "Content is King", but is it really? What about linking? it seems like linking and getting high up in the SERPs is just as important as having good content.

Fresh content is good but link juice can be better at times. Just keep things flowwing and keep linking with other relevent sites.

Default SERPs are good but...

SERPs are good but content is, in my humble opinion, much more important. The more content you have on a page the more the search engines will like you and up your search ranking. Google does not like sites that have to many links. Make sure you have plenty of content to go along with your links.

That is really true jyudin. In the end, it is whoever can bring the users back that will end up the best.

i'd say content CAN BE king, if it's written correctly. If you want to increase your rankings and such, keyword density and seo based writing is very important, as well as populating your site with unique content

I tend to agree with you, especially of what we have seen lately from Social sites as well Google new algos. It is not anymore just some content and links.

If you want to spread that natural link building / conversation about your site then you better of get something quality done that can serve as corner stone in your niche and people would refer/link back to you for many years to come.

Also providing fresh, new content is another important element - Google loves it and people loves it.

Sure, you need also links but if your content will be low quality, you will leave lots of money on the table.

Coderea, great observation. I guess I knew, but never heard anyone explain out in the open, that content is more than written. It is amazing how a different way of viewing things by one individual can open up a new way of thinking for the other. I will have to think about that when I just think of fresh "activities" people can partake of when they come to my blogs.

Content, good content, is king. No question. It is great to get that initial hit but if you can get that repeat look, that repeat browse, that repeat click, that repeat business, that is what is going to take your internet properties to the next level.

If only there were enough hours in the day to write as much as I wanted...*sigh*

Absolutely, I agree. Good content can be king. So many people throw up crappy, or replicated content and they wonder why they aren't ranking!

Agreed. Quality keyword rich content is King. But one must understand SEO practices and incorporate them into their content. Crappy content will bring about crappy results.
