I want to use wordpress as a CMS and am not sure if I should get Wordpress Remix or wordpress from wordpress.org. What is the difference. I think the first costs $150 and the latter is free.

First off, wordpress.org is free software, wordpress is ALWAYS free. Wordpress Remix is just the name of a non affiliated 3rd party theme that acts as a cms. Wordpress in its simpliest form can be treated as a cms with the proper tweaking but honestly requires a skilled web worker to do so. Wordpress CMS looks more like its designed to take out the need to crack open source files and do custom programming. It seems like a solid system, if you are set on using it sign up through my affiliate link to spread the love.
It also really depends on your needs, i am a wordpress designer, if you need any assistance PM me ad we'll chat. |

thanks for the clarification. I'm still debating between that and Joomla. If I go Word Press, I will let you know.

Joomla is more of a cms but its also overly complicated in my opinion. Its a toss up because wordpress is so widely used now its insane. Wordpress is not designed to be a cms but that is what it is being used for since the core code and template design is so dead simple you can edit just about anything and make the site do whatever you want, try doing that with joomla.

Hi Greg,
I would suggest you to go with Wordpress if you want to keep it simple and easy to use administration. We handle more than 10 websites on wordpress and it's very easy to get plugins and code on your requirements + the zillions of templates available in the market. Let me know if you need any help setting up a wordpress blog..and yeah..I won't charge for that

lol not for nothing but who the heck doesn't charge for their time?? I mean you completely undervalue your services by not charging to set up wordpress for a perfect stranger, you must be new to this.

I know with WP it is easy to categorize posts, but I think I'm going to have upwards of 1000 entries that are all pretty timeless. How easy is it for wp to set up a tabbed system to sort through everything? I don't want the typical blog drop down but rather something like category pages.
