I don't really like either, although Joomla is a necessary evil in my field of work. Overseas clients seem to swear by it, and people seem to think Joomla will solve all your problems. Unless people know something I don't know, I think Joomla is a bit overrated, but put my vote in for Joomla over Drupal.

Joomla seems to have a little more international "fan base", so to speak. I don't know much about it, because I am almost 100% Wordpress.

I would say Joomla. There is something about wordpress that doesn't sit well with me. It always feels to much like wordpress and I guess I always associate that with some of the many useless blogs I've seen over the years.

i totally forgot about wordpress, probably because i've never had any experience with it. is it pretty customizable? i know it's cool for a blog, but i just never really pictured it to handle a pretty complex site with multiple sections

Beginner's mistake Ryder. Though wordpress was originally designed to be a simple blog tool, it was quickly adapted to be used as a CMS. The code is much less bulky than many other CMS options which is part of the reason it became so popular.
