How can I promote my site?

Hey guys,

Ive been working on a website for ages now and apart from couple of things on there, its pretty much completed.

My website is a video sharing website built for artists or any creative person that has a show reel. For instance, if you are an animator or director and would like to share your film to the world my website offers this services.

I have just offically launched it today and I need some feedbacks and some advice how I can promote it?

Links. Get Links! Post your site in directories, and post links in forums that artists visit. Basically, if relevant eyes might see it, you want your site's name to be there.

As you have a videos sharing website, I would suggest you to check out some general forums and websites where users promote videos and music which will certainly help you to promote your website Also, try to get backlinks from other video related websites with good amount of traffic so that you get good amount of visitors on your website

It's a great product but definitely you are competing with some of the giants that provide video sharing facility. But nonetheless start email threads with link to some interesting video on your site. Even if you don't have, create one for this purpose.

This viral marketing approach will help you to get lot of exposure to your website. Emails with funny, out of box content or emotional content travels naturally. Just think of email box what type of emails your friend forward you or you forward to your friend. I think this will work for you.

In order to encourage visitors to visit the website again and again, you can also start a competition which would provide users with some kind of benefit.

You can start a competition and provide users with some prize or reward to upload good quality videos on the website which will encourage users to visit the website and upload videos and those videos can attract more traffic on your website.
