My advice is a list of questions.
That way someone can answer and post references for you.

One Business Development Flow might be:
Business Idea get an idea for a business...preferably this idea is based on something that you enjoy
Research this includes learning tools you will need, learning internet marketing, SEO, at least basic HTML, and 100 other things I am forgetting
Business Plan: This is something many businesses fail at. If you do not have a plan, you have no direction
Development create your site and bring it to life. And yes it does have a life of it's own.

endless devotion, marketing, and lots of coffee

It is often a thankless, tedious job, yet can be more exciting than any other!

Here is a great place to start. There is more information on the other links as well. Once you have mastered that, check back in the forums for additional advice. How To Get A Website Up - AffiliatePrograms.com

Yes, there is a lot of learning to do. I know this is contrary to what they say on the "Get rich quick" commercials on TV. I remember one commercial where a girl keeps saying over and over "it's magic!". Or your payment magically appears.......

There is no magic, this is making money the old fashioned way, by working hard for it.
But it is also an area where there are no limits on the income that you can generate.

If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask!

I'm new myself and can't offer a lot of help. However, I wanted to share this link that I found here. Let's All Make Money Online About halfway down on the left side there's a tutorial that shows you how to build a website. This is what I am following.

The tutorial is pretty good though I do not agree with all of it. Putting all of your files in one directory will soon cause chaos if your site gets very large. No matter what he says

If you are not using a content management system you should plan out your directory structure so it is logical. Not only is it easier to maintain it also has Search Optimization values.
It is not much more effort to organize your site.
