Friday night I was working on the development of my 1st website and accidentally did something (I'm not sure what) that blocked me from accessing all of my work. I thought I lost everything and would have to start all over. It was a very big scare, but after over 6hrs of research, tinkering, and much help from others, I was able to get back on track without losing anything. The funny thing is just before this happened, I learned that the program I am using to build my site ( Joomla ) has an extension that allows you to back up and restore your whole site. I downloaded and installed it that night, but never ran it. Needless to say, I backed up everything as soon as I got it up and running. So, this thread is just a friendly reminder to Back Up, Back Up, Back Up.

It's called JoomlaPack. You can also get an extention to set a specific time and day to do automatic back ups. Let me know if you can't find it.

Almost a costly lesson eh?
![]() Backups are an often overlooked, simple process that can save you a lot of agony. Joomla and other CMS systems are prone to hack attacks. If you have never had to go through each line of code searching for hacked changes you just don't know what you are missing. Definitely a daily backup should be performed. When dealing with valuable customer information and such an hourly backup of the dynamic database tables is suggested. This can all be automated in most instances.
