I just did a goal conversion test on one of my big keywords and found out that even though I was bringing in a lot of traffic from that word, it was low converting traffic. There are some keywords I bring less users from but they are more likely to click a link and then buy something. I think I would rather spend my money there then on the word that brings all of the traffic.

Long tail keywords usually have this effect. For example if you were promoting new exhaust systems for 2002-2007 Ford Mustangs. The term "Mustang" would not be very relevant as many people would be looking to buy the car. "Mustang exhaust" will work much better as it narrows the searchers down. Finally "2002 Mustang exhaust" will bring you a very targeted group of which you should be able to convert a much higher percentage.
Try it out with some keywords and see how it goes.

Learning PPC Advertising can get expensive. Using negative keywords help a lot. Most often a word such as "free" is ruled out unless you are giving things away.
I like to target "Buy xxxx" or "Shop for xxx". This way I hit the buyers instead of people just looking for information.
