It does frustrate me sometimes when I am searching for info on Google and on the first SERP there are 3 links to the same content on different sites. I like to compare and contrast views and so I would rather see a wide range of opinions.

Sandis and Westeagle make valid points.
My experienece is that we are not "punished" by the search engines for having duplicate content - however, on the other hand, we are definitely not rewarded. I have seen my own unique articles that I have personally written, published on a higher ranking website and the higher ranking site has resulted in my site losing ground. It is always a good idea, as suggested in here to change your content somewhat, and if you wish to keep the same keywords in your article - just add a word or two to your keyword to make it a "slightly different" keyword - without changing the article's overall meaning too much. |
