I use Google analytics to keep track of the traffic on my site and I have found that my bounce rate is very high. It says this is any people that are on the site for more than 30 minutes but do not do anything. I guess it is like going inactive. I usually see between 40-50% bounce rates. Is this normal or is something going on with my site?

If any of your links open in a new window, maybe they are looking at the site that a link took them to, while your site is still open in another window? Don't know anything about google analytics. If it let's you see where your visitors exit to, you might look at that info.

robert i think you are confused about bounce rate. when a user doesn't do anything for 30 minutes they are timed out. When a user enters a page and immediately leaves it is a bounce. If you have bounce rates near 50% that means that half of the people that enter one of your pages immediately leave. I would suggest layout and design changes to get people to stay for a few seconds more. even that might help them see another link to click on.
