Do you have a list of all of those on-page optimization techniques? I know a few like meta-tags, keyword density, alt-tags, meta-descriptions. What else is there for on-page?

Certainly.
Make sure that the keyword you are targeting is in: 1. Your meta title and meta description. 2. Your <h1> and <h2> titles. 3. Your ALT images, but make sure that you use a phrase with the keyword in it and not only the keyword. 4. Include your keyword in you footer at the very end of the website. Example: Copryright (c) 2009 www.yourwebsite.com - keyword 5. Name your file or page (yourwebsite.com/file.htm) after the keyword. For instance, if you are competing for the phrase 32 LCD HDTV, your file or page should be something like www.yourwebsite.com/32-lcd-hdtv-selection. 6. Include the keyword in your content a few times in a natural way (do not stuff your content with it). You may italize it or bold it one or two times. 7. You may include some links with the keyword in it, so instead of creating a link with the word "click here" you would create one with your "keyword". As a general rule, make sure that the first and last word the robots see on your file or page is your targeted keyword. This should increase your relevance and thus your position in the search engines. Good luck. |

And just when you think you have it you will see some unknown site with crappy design and only a few backlinks take your page 1 ranking. If they stick around long I like to check their code in detail. Including how many words on a page, how often their keywords and related keywords appear. Also the exact amount of words separating keywords. Programming Algorithms are math. All computer processing is math. It just stands to reason that there is more than one way to solve a problem though the ending result is the same.
So if the key is to get to 5 you could go 1+4 = 5, or 6-1 = 5, and so on. I think sometimes some of these "lucky sites" just happened to hit the correct solution by accident in a non traditional way. So I never overlook them.

I think it cannot be decide in numbers, it depends how many unique visitors, traffic, keywords through which users search and on page and off page optimization this definitely going to affect page rank.
Back link number I tell you it's really difficult to tell you about the exact figure. Mark Owen Data recovery software |
