From the AffiliatePrograms Linkedin Page
"Black Hat SEO attempts to employ techniques that are not recommended as part of a good SEO design. This is because it focuses on improving page rankings using deceptive tactics which are disapproved by search engines. One basic truth that one needs to know about Black Hat SEO is that it may produce a high web page ranking, however, these results may only last temporarily since sites using such techniques will eventually be banned or penalized when they are discovered utilizing these tactics. http://www.seotrafficspider.com/blackhat.html" How do you feel about black hat SEO? I try and stay very white hat and feel the results last longer. At the same time I can see the benefit of using some black hat to give a boost to traffic while white hat tactics are implemented.

I suppose there would be instances where this would be useful, but I don't think any website you value should employ black hat techniques. What techniques have you used?

I don't know if anything I have used can be classified as black hat SEO. I have set up individual blogs and twitter accounts for multiple people within a company before and posted as all of them to get things started. Of course those all then linked to the site we were SEOing, so while it might just be best practice, you could make a case for it as black hat.

Do you have any good examples of something that is black hat? I'm struggling a little to differentiate the two.

I guess you have to ask is the risk worth the results?
I think things like hidden text, keyword stuffed landing pages, auto generated articles, page scraping, and so on are the things to worry about. Using twitter and the other things seem to just be a normal part of promoting now days. Multiple accounts on twitter and such could technically be considered dishonest but who hasn't done this? It gets lonely talking to one's self
