A viral site is one that gets compounding traffic from referrals. Simply put, one dude sees the site and thinks its entertaining. Next he emails it to one of his buddies (or if he is internet savvy he'll use a 'social bookmark') and new visitors are sent.

One of the best ways to get this going is by using pictures of real people (think Myspace, Flickr) and post things about them. Because the author was so gracious to bash Jeremy and I he definitely deserved a link. But more importantly this is a great example of going viral. This is a fun site that begs to be shared with friends (or enemies) and uses the power of comments to fuel its traffic.
