I've been putting a lot of time into branding and I realized that one of the most important parts was the logo. It really does make a big difference and since this wasn't my area of focus, I've been doing some research.
I found a site that talked about the tones that different color schemes and fonts have. I think it is pretty interesting and very important to creating a strong brand. How to design an awesome logo Everyone that comes to your site is going to be exposed to your logo on every page. It is standard that the logo goes no the top right, I can't think of any site that are different than that. So if everyone is going to see your logo on each page, it better be good. Some of my favorite logos are the Mac apple, the Nike swoosh and John Deere's Deer. The first two are so simple yet distinct and I just really like the color pattern of John Deere. So do we have any options that don't involve hiring a graphic designer for $250 an hour? I think so. Keep it simple. Choose good colors. Ask for input from friends and others in these forums. Let me see some of your logos. Best Logo wins the coveted "Greg's Favorite Affiliate Logo Award" for 2009. It comes with the whopping cash prize of $1,000 in Schrute Bucks!

Good post Greg. I wish I had known that information when I started creating logos. I pretty much used grunt work to self learn everything on that page. You would have saved me countless hours of double work if I had seen this two years ago.
