Default I want to create my own website...

how do I get started? I've heard of Yahoo! and GoDaddy, can someone recommend a good one to go with? I don't want to spend too much since I'm just starting out.

I would highly recommend Hostgator or 1and1 they both have been great to me and no problems with either of em yet. Pretty sure they both include website builders if that's a route you'd like to take. 1and1 is probably cheaper , but hostgator has cpanel which in my opinion is more user friendly.

BTW back to topic like hostchecker said Hostgator is really cool, they are cheap and reliable...I host many of my sites there and for now I had no problems with them.

Default Website...

GoDaddy also has great web hosting. I've been with them for awhile now. I used to use Hostmonster, but they gave me a lot of problems. The nice thing is you can register your domains with GoDaddy and host them there too.
