Over the past month, I’ve featured several kinds of affiliate programs (forex, golf, sports, email marketing) you can consider when starting off in a new niche or looking for new opportunities in your current niche.
Today, I’m going to list a few software affiliate programs you should consider. Software products can be a great enhancement to a business-advice site (think about tools such as office productivity or virus protection), a young adult site (gaming, college prep) or a technology site that reviews the latest, greatest software tools.
The great thing about software affiliate programs is the nature of the software business. Software (and computers) are built on planned obsolescence and most individuals need to update their computers, and software, every three to four years. And most businesses update their computers even more frequently!
There are also opportunities to create great content for this niche. For instance, if you have a site that provides advice on how to do something, I’m sure you can find a software tool to help your readers do it better.
However, when you’re adding software programs to your site, you won’t be able to just put up links and make sales. Instead, you’ll need to spend some time creating great content about the software you’re selling. Show your readers how it works. Tell them about its features. Make a “how to” video that demonstrates the software’s ability to solve a problem.
Here are four software affiliate programs to check out today. I’m sure you can find something to sell on your site.
iTunes App Store Affiliate Program – The iTunes affiliate program allows you to interface with the Apple’s online download powerhouse that offers more than 400,000 thousand apps, with millions of sales each year. And since Apple now sells mobile apps for the iPhone as well as Mac apps through the App Store, there many ways you could potentially profit by connecting people with a great piece of software. Sign up through the iTunes affiliate page.
GoToMyPC – This tool is a fast, easy and secure way to access your computer from any Web browser or wireless device in real time. This is a product with brand-name recognition that’s frequently advertised in print, radio and TV. The affiliate program pays well and provides good affiliate support. You can earn $10 per free trial, $35 per sale and a generous $100 per sale for GoToMyPC Pro. Check this program out on Commission Junction.
Amazon Software – I know there’s been a lot a talk about the Amazon Associates Program, but I continue to recommend it for affiliates. Consumers love Amazon, it has great products and even if your specific product doesn’t convert well, the conversions you get from other sales on Amazon will give you a great conversion rate. Amazon has a wide selection of name-brand software. Whatever your niche, you’ll find something to sell through this popular department on Amazon.
Digital River – Digital River, a seller of software products, brands its affiliate network as “One Network.” It’s a great program to consider adding. While Digital River sells niche products that are of much higher quality than typical shareware or ClickBank products, their products aren’t so popular that high competition will prevent you from competing for natural search traffic.
As I mentioned earlier, software is an evergreen product that people continually purchase. In addition, the entry of new products and brand names into the market means that you can compete for keywords much more easily than with older, more established keywords.
Take a moment to look at these programs today. I’m sure you’ll find something that works for your affiliate business.
