These pages are a roundup of tools that have received your highest recommendation, praise, and usage.
They are extremely effective because it allows new-comer’s and existing community members a glimpse into what you use to embrace the subject of your website. It becomes a starting, reference point that is collected in one location (versus scattered deep within the archives of your site).
Including a resource page not only allows you to avoid repeatedly answering inquiries from readers about recommendations but it gives you an easy vehicle for affiliated products & services. This page can also take the form of curated content that’s selected to help readers avoid information overload and put them right into the thick of the good stuff.

If you were to ask me then I’d say there is no “perfect” resource page. The best ones are those that facilitate the needs and wants of your community (while simultaneously satisfying your drive to increase conversions).
Every page will be different depending on the niche you have chosen for your affiliate business. You may have an abundance of physical products listed if you chose something related to a hobby or trade. You may have online resources if targeting technical individuals.
Whatever you chose – here are a few things I would recommend when developing this resource page:
- Try to include a link to a review for each of your recommendations versus a mere mention
- Include tutorials related to each of the resources which acts as fuel for additional referrals
- Take advantage of media by using captivating images, sounds, and video to convey value
- Make organization a top priority
- Display alternatives (at higher or lower costs) to present viable options to visitors
The process of developing this page couldn’t be any simpler:
Step 1: Use analytical tools to scan reports and determine the most valuable & popular content. Copy the headlines, URL’s, and description into a spreadsheet.
Step 2: Reflect on tools that have given you the most bang for your buck. Sign up to become affiliates of these products if you have not. Write notes as to how these items have improved your understanding and/or access to your topic.
Step 3: Browse the resource pages of your competitors. Examine the items/services they have listed. Read their copy and call-to-actions. Figure out what works for them which could be effective for yours. Look at income reports or sales statics of the industry to find best sellers.
Step 4: Create short (or long) reviews for each of the products/services you plan to mention within your resource page. Publish those and create a new column in your resource spreadsheet which allows you to easily link to these publications.
Step 5: Create the page utilizing all of your knowledge of on-page search engine optimization. Focus heavily on capturing a lucrative keyword/phrase for the industry on this page. Divide each section using long-tail keywords, too. Write a description of the resources along with why you chosen them. Include an affiliate link as a picture (of the product/service), in its name, and within a call-to-action. Add the links to the reviews and other existing content to add onto each resource. Be sure to include an opt-in form to your email (or social) list.
Step 6: Publish the resource page and link to it within your main navigation and within key areas of your website such as the sidebar or underneath blog posts. Start sharing.
The resource page acts much like a silo page. It condenses valuable information and recommendations onto one page which streamlines a visitor’s entry to your website (and the niche). Keep this page on the top of your list for regular revisions because your usage of items/services will change in due time.
Voila! You’re set to go.
The only thing stopping you from creating the resource page, at this point, is the setup. Do as you would with creating a page but keep it resourceful. Remove the bells and whistles. You should have one up and running in an hour. Time spent on the resource page, afterward, should come about through the use of analytics and tracking which will improve your call-to-actions and, ultimately, conversions.
