Internet Marketing affiliate programs: Choosing a great program – AffiliatePrograms.comYesterday, you learned a bit about health and beauty affiliate programs. Today’s Site-Building Challenge post will introduce you to another kind of affiliate program – Internet Marketing. We’ll discuss four different kinds of programs and I’ll provide you with examples of each.

What is Internet Marketing?

Internet Marketing is the act of promoting products or services over the Internet. It ranges from selling eBooks through affiliate marketing to local search marketing that helps your local pizzeria stay at the top of Google’s page one. It involves search engine optimization, email marketing, website building, social media optimization and much more.

As an affiliate, Internet Marketing can be a great category. Because so many people use the web to help solve problems, especially when trying to solve technical challenges related to online marketing, offering Internet Marketing products on your site can be a very smart move.

For instance, if the content on your site is geared toward helping people solve a problem with email marketing, you might find doing quite well by selling subscriptions to a service such as iContact.

How to get started

If you’re looking to get started in this niche, here are a few of your options.

Affiliate Networks – Some affiliate networks offer a pay-per-lead commission when you send them new affiliates. While the commission usually isn’t more than a few dollars, this is an effective way to monetize content about affiliate networks and affiliate marketing. Check out the program from ShareASale if you’re interested in this.

Email Marketing – Email marketing is a service that provides a consistent stream of income for the right affiliates. If the content on your site is about email marketing best practices or focused on how to configure an email marketing service provider, you’ll want to check out these programs. Some programs pay a flat fee per sale while some pay an ongoing commission from recurring memberships. You’ll make more money with the latter.

Three service providers with great affiliate programs are Wagon Mailer, iContact and Aweber.

Information Products – Information products in this niche run the gamut. Here you’ll need to make a choice. You can find a very sober yet informative book like Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett’s Problogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income through the Amazon Affiliates Program, where you’ll earn a few pennies for each sale, or a hyped-up guru product available by download through ClickBank, such as Income Entourage, which is currently the top product in the Internet Marketing category.

Another great source for information products is Top Niche Networks.

Tools and Software – There are a range of products and services that help people build better websites and market them more effectively. Some examples include premium WordPress themes, SEO tools, and autoblogging software. If your site is about blogging or building websites and you’re providing specific, guided “how to” information, these programs are for you.

Check out the programs for WordPress themes and SEO tools from ShareASale. Go to ClickBank for information products and some kinds of blogging software.

Making decisions about the programs you promote is never easy. It takes time, research and a bit of trial and error before you find a program that converts well on your site.
